Photography is an essential tool for my pictorial work, but I have never seen it as a secondary instrument of artistic expression. Although my original vocation is painting, I find in photography an identity that is impossible to replace with another visual medium. I have tried to carry both manifestations as if they were one, applying photographic effects in the painting as well as painting with light in front of the camera lens. All my paintings (except for just a few) have been product of my own photographs.
My first experiments in photography as an artistic language were these drawings with a led light in front of the camera. I was not looking for a good composition, I only wanted to master the freehand line to create images with light and long exposure in which spontaneity was often the best ally. They are brief reflections of unconsciousness loaded with symbolism that can be understood over time, insinuated self-portraits, an attempt to call attention, light in the dark.
The nude and nature are a fundamental and innate part of the human being. There has never been a lack of eyes to look at a nude, this promotes in itself the very essence of being. Nudity is associated with rituals, with natural phenomena and mythological characters, arguing with the naked body the beginning and evolution of life on Earth.
Other themes that have not escaped my interest are scenes of a social, folkloric, anthropological and cultural nature, on an island where it is healthy to maintain a nihilistic attitude from the position of an observer oblivious to a reality only seen through a lens
