For those who want to see
Resist and win! Homeland or die, we'll win!
There were many slogans that stuck with us, at first I repeated them without even interpreting them, just because they had to be said, and on some times I must point out that it caused me a certain emotion, it made you feel important, that you were part of something great and unique. There's none so blind as he who will not see.

For some reason this was the only officially issued coin that maintained this slogan until 2009/2010 when it was changed to the slogan "Patria o Muerte" the same as the rest of the Cuban coins. The photo I used as a reference, which is nothing more than a nickel seen through a magnifying glass, was taken in April 2011 and until 2021 I had not decided to take it to canvas.

Eggs, food currently in short supply in Cuba, the country I come from, at some time were thrown in acts of repudiation towards the properties of the people, and the people themselves, who decided to leave the country. The two colors in the background and the format divided in two, allude to the two main political and economically opposed states of opinion, which respond to leftist and rightist thoughts.
The position of the eggs makes up the word “Resistir” (resist) in braille script. Between these elements and the phrase they make up there are endless meanings that seem to contradict each other, generating concepts such as the inner battle, tension and denial.
Braille is used as an added hidden language resource, and I say hidden because it is not a language that can be deciphered a priori by those who do not know it, creating curiosity and confusion in the viewer. Where I come from you learn to speak in codes, some more popular than others but all as necessary and undeniable as culture itself.
